Ellen Andeen for Paradise Valley Town Council

Preservation, Public Safety, Limited Government, Good Governance.

Much has changed in Paradise Valley since my family  first settled here in the early 1950s, but what really matters has stayed the same: our town’s love and respect for our incredible mountains, open space, and our great people. I have a proven track record of supporting what our residents value most.  I am running for reelection to Paradise Valley Town Council to continue that focus.

About Ellen

Ellen Andeen is running for her second term as a Council Member in the Town of Paradise Valley.  She is a native of Arizona and 3rd generation resident of the Town of Paradise Valley.  Ellen’s Father, Dr. Richard Andeen,  served on Council in the 1980s and her Mom, Anne Andeen has held various positions in the Town since the 70s. Professionally, Ellen led an acquisition team for Penske Automotive until Dec 2021 and previously spent 25 years in banking & finance, focusing on the automotive industry, working for Ford Motor Credit Company, Bank of America, and Ally Bank.

Ellen attended the University of Arizona, double majoring in accounting and finance.  She then returned to the University of Arizona in 2016, earning a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), summa cum laude.

Fulfilling a lifelong commitment to give back to the law enforcement community, Ellen served as a Police Volunteer with the Paradise Valley Police Department.  She also served as Board Treasurer to the FBI Phoenix Citizens Academy Alumni Association and recently concluded a two-year term as Chair of the Town of Paradise Valley Advisory Committee on Public Safety.  Ellen is also an advocate for Special Olympics Arizona/Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Currently, Ellen is on the Board of the Phoenix Symphony and serves as the Council liaison to the Town of Paradise Valley Arts Board.

Ellen on the Issues

Preservation

Paradise Valley’s breathtaking mountains and open space must be preserved for future generations. I support reasonable development and restrictions that favor a light touch approach to hillside developments that balance property rights with our natural resources. I will continue my support of the preservation of our open space, dark skies and the genuine uniqueness of PV that has existed throughout the years.

Property Rights, Residential Zoning & Short Term Rentals

I support large lot sizes and low density with no property taxes.  I support the Town Council’s efforts to further regulate, through zoning, party houses in our community that put our residents and police at risk.

Safety & Policing

I am committed to keeping our community and police safe.  I have served as a Police Volunteer with the Paradise Valley Police Department and recently concluded a 2-year term as Chair of the Town of Paradise Valley Advisory Committee on Public Safety.

Finances

I am fiscally conservative and support limited government.

Transparency and Good Governance

I support full transparency in government and will push for more discussion on topics during open meetings and less behind closed doors.

Ethics and Integrity

I do not support Town resources being used to favor family members or friendships.  I believe conflicts of interest should be made clear before votes.

Term
Limits

I am opposed to long term political participation greater than 2 terms for a Council Member or Mayor.
